Native dialer integration or a desktop overlay: how to choose a live AI sales coach for your dialer

Direct answer
Should I choose an AI sales coach with a native dialer integration or one that runs as an overlay?
Choose a native integration if you will stay on one dialer for years and want call data, logging, and coaching in a single system. Choose an overlay if your team uses more than one calling tool, may switch dialers, also sells on Zoom or Teams, or wants coaching trained on its own playbook without an IT project. Test either one on real calls before you commit.
What is Amotions AI?
Amotions AI is a real-time private AI sales coach that delivers in-call guidance, AI roleplay, and post-call scorecards—trained on the customer’s playbook. It does not join meetings as a bot.
Two ways a live AI coach can work with your dialer
Native integration. The coaching is built into the dialer, or connects to it through the dialer’s API. It can start automatically when a call connects, use the dialer’s call records, and log notes in the same place.
Overlay. The coaching runs as its own app on the rep’s computer, next to the dialer. It listens to the call audio on that computer and shows private suggestions on the rep’s screen. It does not need to connect to the dialer at all, so it works the same way across dialers and video calls.
Neither one is better in general. They suit different teams.
When a native dialer integration is the better fit
•
Your whole team is on one dialer and you do not expect to change it.
•
You want coaching to start the moment a call connects, with no click from the rep.
•
You want call outcomes, notes, and coaching data in the dialer’s own reports.
•
The coaching options inside that dialer cover what you need, including your own scripts and objection answers.
Watch for: coaching that only works on that dialer (Zoom demos and in-person meetings are not covered), switching costs if you change dialers, and how much you can tailor the guidance to your own sales process.
When an overlay is the better fit
•
Reps use more than one calling tool, such as a power dialer for outbound plus Zoom or Teams for demos.
•
You might change dialers, or different teams use different ones.
•
You want guidance trained on your own playbook, talk tracks, and objection answers.
•
You want AI roleplay practice and post-call scoring in the same tool as live coaching.
•
You want to start this week without an integration project.
Watch for: the call audio has to reach the computer. If your dialer rings the rep’s cell phone or desk phone, the overlay cannot hear the call. Take calls through the browser or a softphone on the computer instead.
How Amotions AI works beside a dialer
Amotions AI is an overlay. It runs on a Mac or Windows computer, either as the desktop app listening to computer audio or in the browser by sharing the tab the call runs in. Suggestions appear only on the rep’s screen, and the overlay stays hidden when the rep shares their screen.
What it does not do: it has no native API integration with dialers, so it does not read or change your campaigns, lists, or dispositions. Dialer and phone calls need a click to start the live coach. There is no mobile app, so calls taken on a cell phone cannot be coached live. Salesforce is the only CRM it syncs with today.
Dialer-specific setup notes are on these pages: Five9, ViciDial, Kixie, PhoneBurner, JustCall, Readymode, Convoso, Velocify, Mojo Dialer, BatchDialer, Close, OpenPhone, Aircall, Dialpad, and RingCentral. For GoHighLevel and CallTools, see AI coaching for browser dialers.
Questions to ask any vendor, native or overlay
1.
Can I load my own script, objection answers, and product information, and will suggestions use my wording?
2.
How does it follow the call? Does it only react to the last sentence, or does it keep track of the whole conversation?
3.
What exactly does the rep see during a call, and can the customer ever see or hear it?
4.
Which of my calls can it coach: dialer, Zoom or Teams, cell phone, in person?
5.
How is usage counted, what does each plan include, and what happens at the limit?
6.
Can I try it on my own calls before paying?

How to test before you commit
Pick two or three reps and one call type you care about, such as first calls with new leads. Load your playbook and top objections. Have the reps use the tool on real calls for a week, then ask them two questions: which suggestions did you actually use, and which got in the way?
Compare tools on that answer rather than on a feature list. A coach that reps ignore is not worth integrating, however tightly it connects to your dialer.

Frequently asked questions
Q1.
Does Amotions AI have a native integration with my dialer?
A.
No. Amotions AI runs as an overlay beside your dialer on a Mac or Windows computer. It does not connect to dialer APIs, so it works the same way across dialers.
Q2.
Can an overlay coach calls that ring my cell phone?
A.
No. The call audio has to be on the computer running Amotions AI. If your dialer can place calls through the browser or a softphone, use that mode for calls you want coached.
Q3.
Do I have to start the live coach for every call?
A.
For dialer and phone calls, yes, you click to start it. On Zoom, Teams, and other video or audio meeting tools, the desktop app can start listening automatically.
Q4.
Will the customer know I am using an AI coach?
A.
The suggestions appear only on your screen and the overlay stays hidden during screen share. You are responsible for any recording or AI notices your industry or state requires.
Q5.
Can I use the same coach for dialer calls and Zoom demos?
A.
Yes. That is the main reason teams choose an overlay: one coach, trained on one playbook, across every calling tool on the computer.
Who Amotions is not for
Amotions is built to coach reps while the conversation is happening. It is not the right fit for:
- Teams that only need post-call analytics. Amotions scores calls after they end, but it is built to guide reps during the live call. If you never want in-call guidance, a conversation intelligence platform is the closer fit.
- Teams that require a native dialer integration. Amotions runs as a private overlay beside ViciDial, CallTools, GoHighLevel, and browser dialers on the rep’s computer. It does not plug into your dialer’s API or run inside your phone system. How Amotions works with dialers
- Teams that need CRM auto-fill as the core job. Salesforce is the only native CRM connector today, and its optional writeback adds a Task with the call summary rather than updating Opportunity or Lead fields. HubSpot, GoHighLevel, and Pipedrive have no native connector. CRM integration details
- Reps who take calls only on a mobile phone. Live coaching runs on a Mac or Windows computer that can hear the call. There is no mobile app.
