Sales Call Playbook Template: Qualify, Demo, Objections and Next Step

A copyable three-step playbook for a first sales call that includes a demo: qualify before you show anything, demo only what solves the problems they named, then surface objections and leave with a dated next step. Paste it into your docs, or load it into Amotions so a private Playbook panel tracks it on every live call.

What is a sales call playbook?

A sales call playbook is the agreed order of a sales call and the checks each part must cover, so every rep runs the call the same way. A short playbook names the steps, the questions or actions inside each step, and the outcome that ends it, such as a dated next step.

Sales call playbook: Qualify → Demo → Objections and next step

Three steps for a first sales call that includes a product demo. Each step has substeps your reps should cover. Copy it, change the wording to your product, then add it as one playbook with three steps.

  3. How do you handle this today, and what is not working?Live checklist item: Current process
  4. Who else is involved in choosing, and who signs off?Live checklist item: Decision makers
  5. When do you need something in place, and what happens if you miss that date?Live checklist item: Timeline
  6. Have you set aside budget, or does that still need approval?Live checklist item: Budget

  2. Show the workflow for the top problem first.Live checklist item: Top problem shown
  3. After each part, ask: "How would this work for your team?"Live checklist item: Check-in questions

  2. Clarify each objection before answering it.Live checklist item: Objections clarified

How it appears in the live Playbook panel

Add the three parts as three steps and the questions as substeps. During the call, the Playbook panel marks a step complete when the conversation clearly shows it, highlights the current step, and moves on. If a reminder is set, it appears only when its item has not come up.

Why qualify before the demo?

A demo before qualification turns into a feature tour, because the rep does not yet know which problem matters. Qualifying first gives the rep two or three problems in the buyer’s words, who decides, and the timeline, so the demo shows only what solves those problems and the objections come earlier.

  • • Qualify: trigger, current process, decision makers, timeline, budget
  • • Demo: their top problem first, with a check-in after each part
  • • Close: concerns asked, objections clarified, dated next step
  • Full list of qualifying questions →
  • Product demo checklist →

Where do objection answers go?

Not in the playbook steps. Steps track what the rep must cover; objection answers belong in the documents you upload, such as an objection sheet with your approved wording. When the buyer raises price, timing or a competitor, Amotions suggests a clarifying question and your approved answer.

How do I use this template in Amotions?

Sign up free, then an admin opens Organization settings → Playbooks, adds a playbook, and enters the three parts as steps and the checks as substeps. Set it as the default so every rep’s live coach uses it. On Zoom, Teams, Meet or phone calls the private Playbook panel then tracks it live.

  • • Steps and substeps: Organization settings → Playbooks
  • • Step completion rule: “all tasks” (default) or “any task” per step
  • • Reminders: a check delay, the item to watch for, and a coach message
  • • Upload your own talk tracks so suggestions use your wording

What if my calls follow a different structure?

Make one playbook per call type. A discovery-only call, a demo-only follow-up and a renewal call each get their own steps, and the rep picks the right one before the call or uses the default. For methodology-specific playbooks such as discovery and decision-process qualification, see the coaching playbooks library.

What does the live Playbook panel not do?

It does not time each step or warn the rep that they are talking too long; there are no live time-per-topic, talk-time or monologue alerts. Talk ratio appears after the call. It also does not speak on the call or join as a meeting bot: guidance is private to the rep.

Security & privacy

Enterprise-Grade Security & Data Privacy

Amotions AI coaches live conversations with a private overlay—it does not join Zoom as a bot. Enterprise buyers can review how conversation data is processed, isolated, and kept out of foundational-model training.

  • Policy

    Zero Model Training Policy

Customer call transcripts, audio uploads, and chat sessions are strictly private to your organization. They are never used to train third-party foundational AI models. Playbook personalization applies your process at coaching time—it is not a claim that foundation-model weights are retrained on your conversations.

  • Healthcare

    Healthcare Data

Data is hosted on Google Cloud, encrypted in transit and at rest, and isolated per workspace. Each practice sets its own patient notice policy for recorded conversations. We sign a Business Associate Agreement (BAA) with your practice, and our hosting provider, Google Cloud, is covered by a signed BAA with Amotions. Ask us for the BAA before you share patient information.

  • Infrastructure

    Data Isolation

Coaching workloads run in isolated Google Cloud environments, including Cloud Run, with encrypted data transmission and encrypted storage. Organization playbooks, transcripts, and uploads stay separated by customer workspace. Ask security for current technical controls during enterprise evaluation.

Questions about this sales call playbook template

What should a sales call playbook include?

The steps of the call in order, the checks inside each step, and the outcome that ends the call. For a first call with a demo: qualify (trigger, current process, decision makers, timeline, budget), demo the top problem first, then ask for concerns and agree a dated next step.

Can AI check off the playbook during a live call?

Yes. In Amotions, an admin adds the playbook as steps and substeps. On the call, the private Playbook panel marks a step complete when the conversation clearly shows it, highlights the current step, and shows reminders for items that have not come up.

Will the buyer see the checklist?

No. The Playbook panel is private to the rep. Amotions does not join the call as a bot, and the overlay stays hidden when the rep shares their screen.

Do I need Amotions to use this template?

No. Copy it into your own docs or CRM notes and use it as a written checklist. Amotions adds the live part: it checks items off during the call, reminds the rep about anything missed, and scores the call against the same items afterwards.

Does this work for a sales team on Zoom?

Yes. On desktop Zoom, reps use the Amotions Zoom app, and every rep in the organization gets the same default playbook. Mobile Zoom is not supported. Teams and Google Meet work through the private overlay.
