Product Demo Checklist: What to Cover on Every Sales Demo

A copyable checklist for a live product demo, in five parts: confirm priorities before sharing your screen, show the top problem first, show the second only if asked, surface concerns, and agree a dated next step. Use it as a written checklist, or load it into Amotions so the rep sees which parts are still open during the demo.

What is a product demo checklist?

A product demo checklist is the list of things a rep must do on a sales demo, in order: confirm the buyer’s priorities, show the workflows that solve them, check in after each part, surface concerns, and agree a next step. It keeps demos consistent across a team and stops them turning into feature tours.

Product demo checklist

A checklist for a live product demo, from the first minute to the next step. Change the demo stops to your own product, then add each part as a playbook step with the checks as substeps.

Before you share your screen

Confirm why they are here so the demo answers their problem, not your feature list.

  1. Confirm the time you have and the goal of the call.Live checklist item: Agenda
  2. Recap what you learned in qualification and ask what has changed.Live checklist item: Recap of needs
  3. Ask which one or two problems they most want to see solved.Live checklist item: Demo priorities

Show the top problem first

One workflow that matches their first priority, end to end.

  1. Name the problem before you show the screen that solves it.Live checklist item: Problem named
  2. Show the workflow with their example, not a generic one.Live checklist item: Their example used
  3. Ask: "How would this work for your team?"Live checklist item: Check-in question

Show the second problem

Only if time allows and they asked for it.

  1. Show the second workflow the same way.Live checklist item: Second workflow
  2. Skip features they did not ask about.Live checklist item: No feature tour

Questions and concerns

Get objections out while you can still answer them.

  1. Ask what they would need to see to be confident.Live checklist item: Proof needed
  2. Ask what would stop them from moving forward.Live checklist item: Concerns asked
  3. Clarify each concern before answering it.Live checklist item: Concerns clarified

Next step

Leave with a date and the right people.

  1. Agree a dated next step, such as a trial, a technical call or a proposal review.Live checklist item: Dated next step
  2. Ask who else should join the next call.Live checklist item: Attendees confirmed
  3. Recap what you will send and when.Live checklist item: Recap

How it appears in the live Playbook panel

Each part of the demo becomes a step, so the rep sees which part is current and which checks are still open. Product facts in suggestions come from the decks, one-pagers and FAQs you upload, so a prompt during the demo uses your wording, not generic copy.

What goes wrong on most product demos?

The rep shares their screen before confirming what the buyer wants to see, shows every feature, and leaves questions to the last two minutes. The checklist reverses that: priorities first, the top problem shown with the buyer’s example, a check-in question after each part, and concerns asked while there is still time.

  • • Screen shared before priorities are confirmed
  • • Feature tour instead of the buyer’s top problem
  • • No check-in questions, so objections arrive at the end
  • • No dated next step

How do my product documents help during the demo?

Upload your product deck, one-pagers, pricing sheet and FAQs. When the buyer asks a product question mid-demo, the suggestion uses that content and your wording, and prompts can follow rules such as not moving to the pitch until set discovery questions are answered.

How do I use this template in Amotions?

Sign up free, then an admin opens Organization settings → Playbooks, adds a playbook, and enters the five parts as steps and the checks as substeps. Set it as the default so every rep’s live coach uses it. On Zoom, Teams, Meet or phone calls the private Playbook panel then tracks it live.

  • • Steps and substeps: Organization settings → Playbooks
  • • Step completion rule: “all tasks” (default) or “any task” per step
  • • Reminders: a check delay, the item to watch for, and a coach message
  • • Upload your own talk tracks so suggestions use your wording

What should happen before the demo?

Qualification. If the demo is on the same call, run the qualify step first; if it is a separate call, recap what you learned and ask what has changed. The sales call playbook template combines qualification, demo and next step in one playbook.

What does the live Playbook panel not do?

It does not time each step or warn the rep that they are talking too long; there are no live time-per-topic, talk-time or monologue alerts. Talk ratio appears after the call. It also does not speak on the call or join as a meeting bot: guidance is private to the rep.

Security & privacy

Enterprise-Grade Security & Data Privacy

Amotions AI coaches live conversations with a private overlay—it does not join Zoom as a bot. Enterprise buyers can review how conversation data is processed, isolated, and kept out of foundational-model training.

  • Policy

    Zero Model Training Policy

Customer call transcripts, audio uploads, and chat sessions are strictly private to your organization. They are never used to train third-party foundational AI models. Playbook personalization applies your process at coaching time—it is not a claim that foundation-model weights are retrained on your conversations.

  • Healthcare

    Healthcare Data

Data is hosted on Google Cloud, encrypted in transit and at rest, and isolated per workspace. Each practice sets its own patient notice policy for recorded conversations. We sign a Business Associate Agreement (BAA) with your practice, and our hosting provider, Google Cloud, is covered by a signed BAA with Amotions. Ask us for the BAA before you share patient information.

  • Infrastructure

    Data Isolation

Coaching workloads run in isolated Google Cloud environments, including Cloud Run, with encrypted data transmission and encrypted storage. Organization playbooks, transcripts, and uploads stay separated by customer workspace. Ask security for current technical controls during enterprise evaluation.

Questions about the product demo checklist

What should a product demo include?

A recap of the buyer’s needs, the one or two workflows that solve their top problems, a check-in question after each part, time for concerns, and a dated next step with the right people.

How long should a sales demo be?

Long enough to show the buyer’s top problem end to end and leave time for questions. Showing fewer workflows well usually works better than a full tour; cut the second workflow if time is short.

Can AI coach a rep during a live product demo?

Yes. Amotions shows the demo checklist as private steps on Zoom, Teams, Meet or phone calls, checks them off as they come up, and suggests answers from your uploaded product documents when the buyer asks a question or raises a concern.

Will the buyer see the checklist?

No. The Playbook panel is private to the rep. Amotions does not join the call as a bot, and the overlay stays hidden when the rep shares their screen.

Do I need Amotions to use this template?

No. Copy it into your own docs or CRM notes and use it as a written checklist. Amotions adds the live part: it checks items off during the call, reminds the rep about anything missed, and scores the call against the same items afterwards.
