Lead qualification scorecard template: score every enquiry the same way

How do you score sales leads consistently?
Use one scorecard for every qualification call. Rate each criterion, such as need, budget, decision makers, timing, fit and next step, on the same 0 to 5 scale with written examples of each score. Add the points up, and agree in advance which totals mean quote now, nurture or decline.
What is Amotions AI?
Amotions AI is a real-time private AI sales coach that delivers in-call guidance, AI roleplay, and post-call scorecards—trained on the customer’s playbook. It does not join meetings as a bot.
Why scoring by feel does not work
When each rep decides which enquiries deserve a quote, the same lead gets a full proposal from one person and a polite brush-off from another. Managers see the result in the conversion rate weeks later, with no way to tell why.
A written scorecard makes the decision consistent and easy to coach. It also shows which questions reps skip most often.
The template: six criteria on a 0–5 scale
1.
Need: 0 = no clear goal. 3 = a goal, but vague. 5 = a specific goal in the buyer’s words, with a reason to act.
2.
Budget: 0 = not discussed. 3 = a range mentioned but not confirmed. 5 = a range that fits your typical price.
3.
Decision makers: 0 = unknown. 3 = the decision maker is named. 5 = the decision maker and the approval steps are known.
4.
Timing: 0 = “sometime”. 3 = a rough window. 5 = a date that fits your lead time, with a reason.
5.
Fit: 0 = outside what you do well. 3 = possible with changes. 5 = a typical customer for you.
6.
Next step: 0 = none. 3 = “send something over”. 5 = a dated next step both sides agreed.
The maximum is 30 points. Adjust the criteria to your sales; keep the scale.
What to do with the score
Agree the thresholds before you start, then review them after a month. A starting point:
•
24 to 30: quote now and prioritise.
•
15 to 23: find the missing pieces with a short follow-up call before quoting.
•
Below 15: nurture with lighter material, or decline politely.
Any criterion at 0 should block a full quote, whatever the total.
How to roll it out
•
Score five recent calls together as a team and compare. Where you disagree, rewrite the examples.
•
Put the criteria in front of reps during the call, not just after it.
•
Review a few scored calls each week. Look for the criterion reps miss most, and coach that.
•
Practise the hardest moments, such as asking about budget or the decision maker, in roleplay.
How Amotions AI uses a scorecard like this
In Scoring Config, an admin creates the criteria and gives each one a maximum score, 5 by default. There is no separate weight field; a criterion with a higher maximum counts more. Each call’s overall score is the points earned divided by the points possible, shown out of 100.
Before a call, the rep picks the scoring set to use. During the call, the same items appear as a private checklist with short suggestions, so the rep can cover them while the buyer is on the line. After the call, the Meeting Report shows the score for each criterion with feedback, and managers can review every rep’s calls without listening to them.
AI roleplay scenarios can be scored with the same set, so reps practise the exact criteria they are scored on.
Frequently asked questions
Q1.
What is a lead qualification scorecard?
A.
A short list of criteria, each scored on a fixed scale, that tells your team whether a lead is worth a quote now, later, or not at all.
Q2.
What criteria should a qualification scorecard include?
A.
Most teams use need, budget, decision makers, timing, fit and next step. Add industry-specific items, such as approvals or lead time, if they decide deals for you.
Q3.
Should the score decide for the rep?
A.
It should guide, not replace, judgment. Use thresholds as defaults and let managers review exceptions.
Q4.
Can AI score qualification calls automatically?
A.
Yes. Amotions scores each call out of 100 against the criteria you set, and the call report shows each criterion’s score with feedback.
