How can I use ChatGPT for sales calls?

Use ChatGPT before the call to research the buyer, draft discovery questions and practise objections, and after the call to write the follow-up and review what happened. During the call, ChatGPT cannot hear the buyer, and typing into it means you stop listening. For live help, use a live AI sales coach that listens and prompts you privately.

What is Amotions AI?

Amotions AI is a real-time private AI sales coach that delivers in-call guidance, AI roleplay, and post-call scorecards—trained on the customer’s playbook. It does not join meetings as a bot.

Where ChatGPT helps, and where it does not

Many sellers now ask ChatGPT for “live sales help”. It is good at the work around a call: thinking through who you are calling, drafting questions, playing a tough buyer, and turning notes into a follow-up email.

The call itself is different. The buyer is talking, you have a few seconds, and the next question depends on what they just said. A chat window does not hear the call, so it can only help with what you stop and type in.

The sections below give prompts you can paste into ChatGPT today for the before and after, and explain what to use for the during.

Before the call: four ChatGPT prompts

1.

Research. “I’m calling [role] at [type of company] about [what you sell]. What are their likely priorities this quarter, and what would make them take a second call?” Check anything factual on the company’s own website.

2.

Discovery questions. “Here is what I sell: [two sentences]. Write eight open discovery questions to find out whether this buyer has the problem we solve, how much it costs them, and who else decides. Keep each under 15 words.” Pick the best four.

3.

Objection practice. “Play a skeptical buyer at [type of company]. I’ll pitch [offer]. Raise realistic objections one at a time, such as price, timing, or we already use someone, and wait for my answer before the next one.” Answer out loud, not just in text.

4.

One-line answers. “Here are the five objections I hear most: [list]. For each, write a one-sentence answer and one follow-up question, in plain spoken English.” Save the ones that sound like you.

During the call: why ChatGPT falls behind

Some sellers keep ChatGPT open and type what the buyer says. In practice, three things go wrong.

You stop listening. Typing a summary of what the buyer just said takes longer than the pause before you are expected to answer, and buyers notice the silence.

It only knows what you type. It misses tone, the exact words the buyer used, and what was said earlier in the call unless you paste it in.

It is not your playbook. Unless you paste in your offer, pricing and approved answers every time, suggestions are generic.

What works during the call is a tool that listens to both sides and shows a short prompt you can glance at. That is what a live AI sales coach does.

What a live AI coach does on the call

Amotions AI listens to your Zoom, Microsoft Teams, Google Meet, phone or in-person call and, after a short pause in speech, shows one short suggestion in about 2 seconds: a next question, an answer to an objection, or a reminder of a step you have not covered.

Suggestions come from the playbook you upload, so they can use the same answers you drafted with ChatGPT. The panel is visible only to you, stays hidden when you share your screen, and does not join the call as a bot. The AI never speaks to the buyer.

After the call you get a score, a transcript and notes with action items. See live help on sales calls for how it works.

After the call: two ChatGPT prompts

Check your company’s policy before you paste buyer names, numbers or call notes into any AI tool.

1.

Follow-up email. “Here are my notes from a call: [notes]. Write a short follow-up that recaps their problem in their words, the next step we agreed, and the date. Under 120 words, no hype.”

2.

Self-review. “Here is what happened on my call: [notes]. Where did I talk too much, which question should I have asked, and what is one thing to try on the next call?”

If you used a live coach, start from its call report instead of your memory: it already has the transcript, the score and the moments to work on.

A simple routine: ChatGPT to prepare, a live coach on the call

Use ChatGPT to draft your questions and objection answers. Put the ones that work into your live coach’s playbook, so they appear on the call at the right moment. Review the call report afterwards and update the playbook with what you learned.

Frequently asked questions

Q1.

Can ChatGPT listen to my sales call?

A.

A chat window only sees what you type or paste in. It does not hear your Zoom or phone call and prompt you privately while the buyer is talking. A live AI sales coach is built for that.

Q2.

Is it okay to use AI during a sales call?

A.

Getting private suggestions is like having notes in front of you. Recording and transcription rules depend on where you and the buyer are, so check what you must tell buyers before recording a call.

Q3.

Can I put my ChatGPT talk tracks into a live coach?

A.

Yes. In Amotions AI you upload your playbook, objections and answers, and live suggestions can use your exact wording.

Q4.

Is there a free way to try live sales help?

A.

Yes. Amotions AI has a free Basic plan with limited usage, so you can try it on a real call.
