What is Amotions AI?
Amotions AI is a real-time private AI sales coach that delivers in-call guidance, AI roleplay, and post-call scorecards—trained on the customer’s playbook. It does not join meetings as a bot.
What is a sales call review scorecard?
A sales call review scorecard is a structured rubric managers and enablement teams use to score discovery, listening, objection handling, next-step discipline, and emotional intelligence on real or practiced calls. It replaces vague feedback (“good energy”) with observable behaviors that predict pipeline quality.
Scorecards work when criteria are few, binary-or-simple, and tied to coaching actions. A 25-row audit sheet that nobody finishes is worse than an 8-criterion card used on every reviewed call.
Call review scorecard template (copy this rubric)
Score each criterion 1–5 (1 = missing, 3 = inconsistent, 5 = excellent and natural). Total /40.
Criterion | 1 | 3 | 5 | Notes / timestamp
Opening & agenda | No purpose | Vague agenda | Clear purpose + buyer agreement |
Discovery depth | Feature dump | Some questions | Problem, impact, urgency uncovered |
Listening ratio | Dominates talk | Mixed | Buyer speaks meaningfully; rep reflects |
Question quality | Yes/no only | Some open Qs | Multi-layer questions that advance insight |
Objection clarify-first | Answers instantly | Sometimes clarifies | Clarifies before reframing |
Objection reframe & advance | Discounts/stalls | Partial reframe | Value reframe + next step |
Emotional control | Defensive/rushed | Recovered late | Steady, empathetic, composed |
Next-step close | No clear next step | Soft maybe | Specific time, owner, success criteria |
Pass threshold suggestion: 28/40 for “on-track,” with no criterion below 2 on priority skills.
How to score each criterion consistently
Discovery depth
•
5: Buyer articulates problem, business impact, and timing in their own words.
•
3: Rep asks questions but stays at surface symptoms.
•
1: Rep pitches before understanding the job to be done.
Objection handling
•
5: Clarify → reframe → advance without early discounting.
•
3: Handles content but skips clarify or fails to advance.
•
1: Freezes, argues, or collapses to “I’ll send information.”
Emotional control
•
5: Notices hesitation, names concern calmly, keeps buyer engaged.
•
3: Recovers after tension but missed the early cue.
•
1: Matches buyer frustration or rushes through discomfort.

Manager call-review checklist (15-minute review)
1.
Read the scorecard criteria before pressing play—do not invent new standards mid-review.
2.
Score only what you can observe; leave blank if audio/context is missing.
3.
Timestamp one strength and one miss for the rep’s current skill focus.
4.
Ignore cosmetic issues (filler words) unless they block trust or clarity.
5.
Write one practice assignment tied to the lowest strategic score.
6.
Log the score in your coaching tracker and compare week over week.
7.
If the same miss appears twice, escalate to live shadow or AI roleplay reps.
Pair reviews with manager templates so the 1:1 conversation stays focused: https://amotionsinc.com/blogs/sales-manager-coaching-templates
Call-type variants: discovery, demo, and close
Call type | Weight more | Weight less | Success definition
Discovery | Discovery depth, question quality, listening | Feature explanation | Problem + impact + next diagnostic step
Demo / presentation | Buyer-specific relevance, objection advance | Generic slides covered | Stakeholder map + evaluation plan
Proposal / close | Objection sequence, next-step close, emotional control | New discovery | Decision date or clear disqualify
Do not use one identical weight set for every call type. A great demo with thin discovery may still be a failed discovery call if that was the stage goal.
Self-review scorecard for reps
Reps should score their own calls before manager review. Self-review builds judgment and shortens 1:1s.
•
What was my skill focus going in?
•
Where did I earn a 5? Timestamp it.
•
Where did I score myself ≤2? What will I practice twice before the next call?
•
Did I secure a next step with time and owner?
•
What buyer emotion did I notice, and how did I respond?

From scorecard to coaching system
A scorecard only creates lift when it feeds practice and live reinforcement:
•
Low discovery scores → roleplay question trees and talk-to-listen goals.
•
Low objection scores → objection playbook drills + live clarify-first prompts.
•
Low next-step scores → end-of-call checklists and manager whisper cues.
•
Low emotional control → MSCEIT-informed practice and in-call composure prompts.
Amotions AI can automate much of the capture and scoring loop—roleplay scores, live guidance, and post-call feedback—so managers coach patterns instead of hunting recordings: https://amotionsinc.com/product

Hearing health and other consultative motions often run scorecards on every consult: https://amotionsinc.com/solutions/hearing-health-sales-coaching
Common scorecard mistakes to avoid
•
Too many criteria (reviewers quit or score randomly).
•
Personality judgments instead of observable behaviors.
•
Scoring talk tracks word-for-word instead of buyer outcomes.
•
No link between score and practice assignment.
•

Frequently Asked Questions
Q1.
What should be on a sales call review scorecard?
A.
Include opening/agenda, discovery depth, listening, question quality, objection clarify-first, objection advance, emotional control, and next-step close—scored with clear 1/3/5 definitions.
Q2.
How many calls should managers score per rep each week?
A.
One to three deeply scored calls plus trend review beats ten shallow reviews. Consistency and coaching follow-through matter more than volume.
Q3.
Should AI score sales calls automatically?
A.
AI call scoring helps cover every conversation and flag patterns, while managers calibrate criteria and coach judgment calls. The best systems combine automated scorecards with human coaching conversations.
Q4.
What is a good score on a sales call scorecard?
A.
Define your own pass line—many teams use about 70% with no critical criterion below 2. Recalibrate quarterly against win/loss outcomes, not vanity averages.
Q5.
How do scorecards improve objection handling?
A.
By scoring clarify, reframe, and advance separately, managers stop accepting “they handled it” as feedback and assign precise practice for the exact miss.
Put the scorecard into weekly coaching
Print or paste the rubric into your coaching tracker, score one priority call per rep this week, and assign one practice. Then reinforce the same behavior with live prompts on the next real call.
