The Mayer-Salovey-Caruso Emotional Intelligence Test (MSCEIT) is an ability-based test designed to measure the four branches of the EI model of Mayer and Salovey. It was developed by psychologists John Mayer, current Yale University president Peter Salovey, and David Caruso. MSCEIT was developed from an intelligence-testing tradition formed by the emerging scientific understanding of emotions and their function and from the first published ability measure specifically intended to assess emotional intelligence, namely Multifactor Emotional Intelligence Scale (MEIS). MSCEIT consists of 141 items and takes 30-45 minutes to complete. MSCEIT provides 15 main scores. It includes specific situations and scenarios where test takers need to figure out what to do in those situations.
In addition to the assessment, you will get a personalized feedback session on your emotional intelligence assessment results conducted by an emotional intelligence expert, researcher, and coach. The feedback process provides test takers with results and actions they can use to enhance or leverage their EI skills. You will also receive a workbook A Leader's Guide to Solving Challenges With Emotional Intelligence by Lisa Rees, leadership and emotional intelligence coach and Dr. David Caruso, and Amotions exercises to help you grow your skills.
EI is a set of skills, it predicts important life outcomes. The ability model is a great theory with incredible practical, everyday applications. The four skills are the ability to Perceive, Facilitate, Understand and Manage emotions. Each ability has its own characteristics and all work together to form emotional intelligence. You will receive scores for each of the four skills, and receive practical tips on developing them in the MSCEIT report.
Based on the book The Leadership Challenge by Jim Kouzes and Barry Posner, the Leadership Practice Inventory is one of the best leadership 360 assessment tools on the market. The authors and creators of the LPI and TLC have accumulated over 30 years of data and research that shows when leaders demonstrate the 5 practices (Model the Way, Inspire a Shared Vision, Challenge the Process, Enable Other to Act, Encourage the Heart) of exemplary leadership, they are regarded as highly effective leaders by 95.8% of their employees.
The LPI 360 contains 35 statements, 6 for each of the 5 practices, along with several targeted open-ended questions that can be tailored by the client to drill down into areas of concern or curiosity. The 360-assessment process is extremely effective and provides leaders with data on how others such as their colleagues see them and assesses their ability to demonstrate and integrate the 5 practices into their leadership.
You will also get a one-on-one feedback session from an experienced Leadership Practice Inventory practitioner.
